Overview
About Me
I am Tanay, an artist whose life has been shaped by the twin callings of culture and spirituality. Dance is not merely an artistic pursuit for me; it is a living meditation, a form of expression that unites body, mind, and spirit. My journey has led me to preserve and revive ancient traditions such as Odissi and Charya Nritya, where history, philosophy, and aesthetics converge in harmonious resonance.
I delight in meeting people who bring with them new worlds of thought, laughter, and experience. Friends often find in me an open-minded listener, a warm companion, and an inveterate seeker of knowledge. I believe that travel is not simply locomotion across geography but an intimate exchange of stories, values, and human connection.
To share food, to share ideas, and to share moments of genuine human warmth, these are the experiences that make life’s voyage truly rewarding.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing, to me, represents the quintessence of travel, an opportunity to encounter not only new geographies but also new souls. It is not merely about where one rests at night, but about the conversations, laughter, and human warmth that transform a journey into a lasting memory.
Interests
My interests gravitate toward the confluence of art, culture, and philosophy. Ancient traditions fascinate me, for they carry within them the wisdom of civilizations long past. I am equally at home in the world of theatre and performance, where stories are not merely enacted but embodied. Buddhist philosophy, with its emphasis on compassion and mindfulness, informs both my art and my daily life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It all began with the simple act of sharing a meal with a stranger. What might have been an ordinary encounter unfolded into a friendship woven with stories, laughter, and mutual trust. Over time, these spontaneous connections, born of generosity and shared humanity, have blossomed into enduring bonds that transcend geography and culture. To me, such moments are infinitely more precious than the grandest monuments or the most celebrated landscapes, for they reveal the extraordinary beauty of human connection.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach classical Indian dance forms, particularly Odissi and Charya Nritya, as well as share insights into Indian spirituality, poetry, and cultural history. I am eager to learn from others, be it local customs, culinary traditions, or personal philosophies. What I most cherish is the act of sharing: a meal, a story, or a moment of genuine human connection.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I consider it a privilege to be welcomed into another’s home, and I carry with me a profound sense of gratitude for such generosity. In return, I can offer a taste of India through simple, home-cooked meals prepared with care and affection. I delight in sharing stories from my journeys and reflections from the worlds of art, philosophy, and spirituality, should my hosts find them of interest.
Beyond these, what I truly bring is an attitude of respect, adaptability, and willingness to contribute in any way that may ease the rhythms of the household. Whether through conversation, cultural exchange, or quiet companionship, I hope to leave behind not only memories of my presence but also a sense of warmth and goodwill.
