Hello! I’m Tara. I’m from Toronto (be prepared to hear me talk about how much I love my hometown), and having been living in Montreal for the past four years.

While at uni I got my BA in English Cultural Studies (it was awesome) and worked at the campus sexual assault centre (I'm the social justice-y type). Now I work for a public health program. I'm new to CS, and hoping to travel as much as possible and meet cool people before heading to law school next year.

I'm a quintessential virgo who loves to please people, so I overthink everything! But that also means I'll be a super conscientious and easygoing guest/host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favourite travel experiences have always been when staying with friends, family, or in the home of a local, so couchsurfing seems perfect. I just want to travel and avoid life's responsibilities while I can, and help others do the same :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've managed to board a plane going to the wrong place—twice!

While snorkelling in Bermuda, I got stranded on top of a shipwreck while a shark was circling, and had to be rescued by a passing jet skier.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can entertain (/bore) you by overanalyzing pop culture and talking about my favourite critical theory. I can teach you the basics of active listening, and how to maximize your protein intake. I can also dye your hair!

I'm interested in learning more about anything tech- or entrepreneurship-related, as I have little experience in those fields. Also generally interested in hearing about others' travel experiences.

Happy to chat about other fun things as well, like our deepest insecurities and regrets! Or hopes and dreams if you're more into that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can take you out for dinner, I can bring little gifts from Canada which will almost certainly be maple syrup themed (or wine), and I clean up after myself.

I'm a great listener and I have some fun stories too. I'm also game for a little political debate.
