About Me

I am an independent journalist who frequently travels with my dog, Layla - a 12 year old Collie mix who is extremely friendly and well-trained (she is my PTSD service dog).
Born and raised in the St. Louis area, I spent my high school and college years in Minnesota, lived in Nashville, Tennessee for 7 years, and am now back to living in the St. Louis Metro East area. I have worked as a freelance journalist for 6 years reporting on both pop culture and politics, and in January 2018 started my own media company focused on sharing the stories of local artists of all mediums - Meridian Creators. I now have my first book, a travel memoir called THE GREAT MEANDER, being published on January 1st, 2020!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As an independent journalist, when I travel I am often looking for affordable or free accommodations for myself and my dog, as well as hosts who are willing to give me advice on where to look and who to speak with about local art, music, and community.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste changes by the day depending on my mood, but lately my favorite artist is Marian Hill.

I'm a bookworm and never leave the house without at least 2 books, just in case. Ray Bradbury, Margaret Atwood, and J.K. Rowling are some of my favorite authors. Anthony Bourdain is my muse.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a Greyhound from Nashville to Philadelphia, where I then joined a 10 day march from Philly to DC to protest corruption within our government and demand protections for voting rights, as well as the overturning of Citizens United.
