About Me

I moved to St. Augustine, Florida with my wife mid-2021. It's taken us a while to get used to our new town, especially amidst the pandemic, but we're warming up to our life here. Having already been a few months here, we now would like to take the opportunity to meet and socialize with like-minded folks who share similar views on the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing in 2013 through a referral by a good friend. I used it for a while but then stopped logging in for loss of interest. Since then I had more travels and managed to visit/crash at couchsurfers' places; these stays were mostly organized by friends/my wife. I had the opportunity to stay at/meet the most intriguing, friendliest, and welcoming people I have ever met. I always felt welcomed and cared-for at couchsurfers' houses, which made me feel the desire to pay it forward. That's why I decided to login again, update my profile, and be sure to meet/help other couchsurfers in the country I'd be residing in. I might not be able to host people at times, but I would be more than happy to meet for food/drinks/games/talks or even simply give out information through messaging if needed.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't necessarily have a favorite anything ... I'm open to new genres and have realized that my taste in movies/music/books has greatly changed in the past few years. I like to listen to music all the time, especially during road trips. And movies are my number one choice when bored, especially when i'm with company. As for books, I've grown to appreciate them more with time and I always make sure to have at least one with me during travels. I have a habit of reading half a book, then picking it up again after some time. I know that this can make me lose the essence of the book, which is why I sometimes I try to restart whenever I can. And I've realized that whenever I do so, it helps me understand parts that I did not pay attention to or comprehended the first time (just like movies). I mostly like to read when I'm at the beach, in a coffee shop, or when traveling generally. It gives me great pleasure to leave books at random places after I finish reading them, for strangers to pick them up and read in turn. I also like to leave a small note for the new readers, just to inform them on where this book has traveled and to ask them to do the same.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived the pandemic? umm I hitchhiked with my wife throughout Georgia (the country) and Armenia. Did white water rafting in the Nile in Uganda... I've done a lot of amazing things in life but they might not all be of interest to others :)

Food and drinks, laughter, stories, advice (only if warranted) and a good time! I'm also a sucker for good stories.
