About Me
Physician. Ex wannabe pythonista. Certified in Cisco networking(CCNA) and I am an AWS solutions architect.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I now work for a company that audits medical offices and their charts. I’ve been working with them and recently was given a best practice award (Nov 23) and more jurisdiction; especially when QC fails at a location.
The only issue is they don’t tell me my schedule until the day prior. Scheduling my couch is going to be difficult to say the least. So, please Google my name- Tariq Niaz Ahmad MD.
Interests
Mountain biking, weight loss, nutrition. Microdosing mushrooms.

Music, Movies, and Books
Mark Manson, , Esther Perel, Somerset Maugham, Below her mouth. Disintegration by The Cure. Haven’t listened to music in a decade or so, that album ended it for me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Staying married for over 27 years with six beautiful children. I’m a grandfather.
Teach, Learn, Share
I went to medical school on a full scholarship overseas, I did my residency just outside of Boston with portions of my third year at the MGH.
Out of 25 or so residents I was chosen to present cases to the head of clinical education at Harvard and Professor of Medicine at the time, Dr. George Thibault. It’s something I’m proud of because I didn’t get hung out to dry by him or the director. I learned from him that geniuses are humble. This man actually walked over to me, shook my hand, and asked me how I was doing when I was doing a rotation a few months after the presentations. It shaped me, and I honestly strive to have his work ethic and integrity.
Raising three children while in residency and starting my practice alone once I moved to Buffalo to be close to my in laws really took a toll on me. Now, at this stage of my life, I would consider myself a charismatic bum. The king of one liners and a master basket case. As time has gone on, my family, my way of life and my protein have been my main focus. I would like to change that.
I’m a Sufi. I’m am Ba’aiah into the Chistia silsila and spend most of my time in zikr. I have spent most of my life just being alone and understanding the lack of separation of my church and state. I became a physician not for the money but to get into heaven.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My mom makes a halvah in which she uses two cups of sugar and four sticks of butter for every four cups of “flour”. I hope to give a few sweets and delicacies with a little less sugar to interest you in asking questions. I can cook but the meat has to be Halal. The slaughter is done ethically and with the least amount of pain to the animal. Why do I write this? I know I grew up with lesbians and homosexuals, Protestants, Catholics and Jews, I know their beliefs and aptitudes, but not many people are comfortable with us Muslims. They’ve only seen us on TV or in passing.
I’ve seen all sides and I chose Islam as my way of life.
I know something about everything except when I know nothing. One more reason I would like to try Couchsurfing!
I don’t drink alcohol. I had an arranged marriage and didn’t visually see my wife until after she married me. That was dope. I haven’t eaten in a restaurant ever. I don’t really care about happiness as long as my dogma isn’t running over my karma, and I’m not going in reverse.
I consider myself empathic and strive to be a beautiful person. I’ve done that with family and friends and would like to experience more diversity and kindred spirits. I honestly feel I gave my life to my patients being on call 24/7 for almost 10 years. I married a feminine woman and she is my rock.
I’ll be traveling alone.
