collect stories, explore and paint along the way
I like experiences that keep me on the move, whether exploring cities by bike or backpacking in the Rocky mountains. Still, a day spent reading and lounging at a cafe or sipping beer on a porch can be quite wonderful. I've spent a lot of time in Latin America, especially Nicaragua, where I run a scholarship program for Nicaraguan youth. I recently graduated from American University and I'm all over the place these days juggling the people and places I love with work decisions and my plans to travel. Along the way I'm connecting with people and sharing stories, making food/drinking wine, getting lost and finding myself somewhere unexpected and fascinating.
"A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars, it's where the rich use public transportation."
-Mayor of Bogota
Yes that's a little specific to capture my entire life philosophy... but I do love me some public transportation...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skinny-dipped in bio-luminescent water in a West African delta.
Watched a volcanic island erupt as I passed by it on an overnight boat to Naples, Italy.
Bonded with a baby howler monkey in Peru who would climb onto my shoulders and nuzzle as I went about my day.
