About Me
My favorite time of day is late afternoon, when the sunlight bathes everything in a warm yellow glow. I can't swim or drive, but am pretty good on my own two feet. I was born and raised in San Francisco and love big cities and the diversity of people, cultures and practices that comes with them! Right now I am a third-year PhD student at UC Davis, studying Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis on practices of medicine but I have a masters in Linguistics, too. Also, I am just getting into Science and Technology Studies and love to talk about pretty much anything :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have lived in houses that have hosted couchsurfers and we have made many good friends this way and I would love to continue by traveling around the world and also hosting people once I get back!
Interests
Cooking and sharing food with others is my favorite way to spend time. I pretty much always have music playing (there IS a perfect song for every moment!), love going out to see live music, and I am a pretty big bookworm. My cat Meerkat would probably be offended if I didn't also say that she is my main interest. I also really like to take hikes and explore different landscapes, but so far, the forest is my favorite :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most music except really intense screamo- most of what I listen to falls into the categories of soul (Sam Cooke, Amy Winehouse, The Isley Brothers, The O'Jays, Erykah Badu), hip hop (Blackstar, Lauryn Hill, Atmosphere, Las Orishas), punk (Rancid, The Offspring, Blink 182, Frank Turner, The Ramones), folk (cat power, kate wolf, woody guthrie) and jazz (Sonny Rollins, Ornette Coleman, Dinah Washington, Blossom Dearie) . My favorite movies are Moonstruck, No Country For Old Men, Annie Hall and Pulp Fiction. Books that I nerd out on are Chronicle of a Death Foretold (Marquez), Kitchen Confidential (Bourdain), World Outside My Window (Rexroth) and Letters to a Young Poet (Rilke), and Wisdom Sits in Places (Basso) and beat poetry :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a year working on a series of drawings and paintings that used trash materials found on the streets of San Francisco as canvasses.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a real interest in language and like to teach and learn languages. I also just love talking to people and learning about their experiences and perspectives- learning about what makes each person themselves
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love cooking but like even more to cook (and eat!) with others :)
