ABOUT ME

We're two friends from Northern California (USA) traveling through Europe for 3 months. Taylor is a theatre actress and Christine is an artist and student of history and literature. We're traveling as a means to learn new skills, meet unique and interesting folks, see art, music, and architecture, and enmesh ourselves in different lifestyles and cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far only a few, and it's been wonderful. Going out to watch the euro games with friends, water skiing, raining tours of the city...

Interests

All art forms (especially theatre, music, and design), antiques and vintage fashion, good food and beer, classic literature, soft sculpture, foreign cultures, getting to know fascinating people, and nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Folk, klezmer, rock, delta blues, soul, electronic, the amazing music our friends make, hip-hop, punk rock, jazz, classical... Tom Waits, Skip James, Sam Cooke, Talking Heads, Beach House, Hank Williams Sr., etc.

Films: Taylor works at a video store, so pretty much everything. Some of our favorites are the Great Dictator (ALL Chaplin), Cool Hand Luke, the Big Lebowski, Vertigo, Bronson, Harold & Maude, Annie Hall, This is England, The Science of Sleep, Amelie, Kill Bill, and Escape From New York.

Books--
Christine: I like everything from the classics to sci-fi to poetry. Some o' my favorites: Kundera, E.E. Cummings, Dickens, Isabel Allende, Philip K. Dick, John Steinbeck, etc.
Taylor: Chekhov, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, and Shakespeare, obviously.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple of summers ago we went on a road trip around the states that was incredible... The Carlsbad Caverns were the highlight!

Teach, Learn, Share

We want to learn everything, but our favorite way to get to know people is by swapping favorite authors and musicians.

Christine: I'm an amateur photographer, slowly learning about digital, film, and instant film cameras, so I'd love to share the basics. I've also been teaching art to children for almost 7 years, so if you doodle like a kindergartener, I can show you some simple and fun art techniques.

Taylor: I enjoy teaching needle felting and how to play the musical saw.

We'd both love to learn more about cooking, playing instruments, languages, and everything about the place you're from.
