To work, laugh, play, coach, travel, and live simply for God
I'm a learner, a teacher (in process), a friend, a hard worker, a catalyst, a traveler (even when I'm in my "home" town) and often even an optimist.
I'm originally from the United States; at least, that's what my passport says - I'm not so sure any more. I feel I'm pretty well scrambled by now; I was just living in Spain where people say I speak with a South American accent and act European.
As for learning, I'm learning to fall in love with the practice of learning, and in that process I´m also becoming a teacher; I mainly teach kids and youth and typically do it through the sport of soccer (I´m a coach), but my focus is much less on being a winner in the individual game each day and much more on being a winner in the game of life (in which the world is on your team; or rather, your on its team).
Lately, I've had the wonderful opportunity to stop teaching as much and dedicate myself to more formal sorts of education; I've been studying psychology, history, and literature in Granada, Spain, for the last year. This Summer I just got to travel Europe and meet some great CS friends. Now I'm finally back in my home town of Newberg, OR, and would love to return the blessing of hosting that so many people showed me. SO COME VISIT ME IN NEWBERG :)
One of the most important things about me is that I am a Young Life leader, that basically means I love pouring into the lives of youth and blessing them best I can - hence the reason I coach soccer. Check out this link (if you want) to learn more about Young Life: http://www.younglife.org/About/Pages/default.aspx
By the way, I´m a COOKsurfer!!! It means I like to teach and learn new recipes. This site explains it: https://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=228&post=1700352
I believe God has made me and I want to do what He's made me to do: love Him and all those around me and give Him my best in all the areas of my life. So I try hard at what I do - whether it's coaching, being a good friend, cooking, studying or working - as unto Him. And as far as others are concerned: it's not my job to shape their minds. But I do love discussing things, especially deep stuff like the meaning of life, in an open and respectful atmosphere in which we are all looking to learn from each other and not to "win a debate." :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I participate by making new friends. Couch surfing is not for people just looking for a free place to spend the night - it's about sharing culture and relationship.
I've been on Couchsurfing since 2011, and love it! It's a great way to make new friends and see into different cultures a bit more than a tourist can. I hope I can have the opportunity to host soon, but right now the family I live with isn't very keen on the idea and the years past I didn´t live in an attractive-enough place.
Learning, soccer, writing, reading, cooking, biking, outdoor activities, skiing, life, God, good questions, a solitary forest, and a peaceful creek.
The art of play. To understand what I mean, I suggest going to a park and watching the children for half an hour; that's REAL play. Or look up "FLOW" in a sports psycology text book.

Music, Movies, and Books
Here are 2 of the many authors I like: Dick Francis, Max Lucado.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once had the privilege to coach a high school soccer team through an amazing transformation from one season to the next, going from no wins to making it into the playoffs. But that's only the external result of the transformation; the true achievement was not in the outward success but rather in the personal growth of each player. And it certainly wasn't all my doing, I just got to be a part :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach: soccer, Spanish or English, how to cook certain foods (Peruvian, Mexican, Spanish, Honduras, Japanese and US american), how to ride a unicycle or walk on stilts, etc.
If you like to cook, let´s swap recipes! Also, if you're planning to visit me, I'd love to cook you a meal; and if you're hosting me, if you let me use your kitchen, I'd love to cook for you too!
I love to learn just about everything! So teach me something and I'll be delighted. Sharing is a lot of fun - especially sharing experiences.
