ABOUT ME

First off: I'm queer and lie somewhere in between the socially accepted presentations of gender. If this bothers you, then we totally shouldn't surf together, because of personal boundaries and safety, y'know?

Summer 2013: Racing bikes, riding bikes, mountain biking forever.

Summer 2012: My buddy Jacob and I rode our bikes from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific Coast.

2011: I spent the year finishing my masters degree at Indiana University, mountain biking, and teaching world regional geography.

Summer 2010: I worked as a trip director for a mountain biking camp for teenagers. We rode some of the sickest trails in Colorado and Utah and I got to hang out with some rad kids!

Summer 2009: Rode my bicycle from Portland, OR to Brooklyn, NY. That fall I moved to Bloomington, IN to start the Masters program for Geography at the University of Indiana.

Additionally: I essentially live and breath Bicycles. I am a Bike mechanic, a mountain biking instructor, a bicycle advocate etc... I received my bachelors degree in Geography in 2008 and promptly went to work for National Geographic.

Oh.. and also these...
Outdoor Adventure, Redneck Adventure, Gourmet Adventure, and doom metal

PHILOSOPHY

I want my life to be like a never-ending BBQ: Full of beer, friends, sunshine, the lake, and the finest meats and cheeses.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

surf's up!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept in parks, in alleys, in ditches and under bridges. I've slept in forests, on mountains, on glaciers and in trees. I've surfed with people from all walks of life, have been given free beer by tea-partiers, got to sleep in a children's fort in Idaho, ate catfish a Mississippi river festival in Iowa... I've stayed everywhere?

I've surfed with all kinds of folks and it has been rad all around. It's a great way to hear awesome stories from people you otherwise may have never met.

That being said, I'd love to host some fine folks!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like comic books and thought provoking books concerning ecology, capitalism, race, gender and socioeconomic status. I'm pretty sold on political ecology.

Ween, Sleep, Kylesa, Mogwai, Dead Meadow, Electric Wizard, Wu-Tang, Jesus and Mary Chain, GZA, Jesu, Galaxie 500....

Tremors, Repo Man, and Robocop are like the best movies ever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jars of various pickled items at the state line tavern between Idaho and Montana. I'm talking eggs, sausages, cucumbers, pig's feet, etc.

God Bless America.

I also saw a solar eclipse a few weeks ago. Pulled over on my bike and scoped it out. Pretty neat.

Teach, Learn, Share

Bicycle Maintenance & Cooking... and a million other things. Outdoor skills.

I'm actually an Adventure Sports instructor and my specialties include cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, and whitewater kayaking.. SO if you want to know anything about those kinds of things.. OR if you would like me to take you out.. THEN maybe we should do that! A lot of my traveling is for adventure sports, so if I am staying on your couch at night, chances are I'm out bombing trails or running rivers during the day. Let me know if you want to go with me!
