About Me

CURRENT MISSION

explore and learn to form meaningful friendships based on understanding and acceptance

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Memphis, TN for the first 18 years of my life, enjoying the culture and diversity there.
I occupied much of my free time volunteering with kids, especially African refugees and inner city kids, and then I would enjoy as many concerts as possible in between.
Now, I am a student at the University of Arkansas, and I am studying International Relations and Anthropology with an area concentration in Africa. I am very much enjoying my studies!

Really though, I am just a person who enjoys hearing people's stories and being immersed in a hearty laugh--the kind that makes it hard to breathe you're so caught up in the chuckle...I love those.

PHILOSOPHY

Be open to anyone and everyone because you never know what you might find

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a part of a Free the Children program to build two elementary schools in rural Kenya. We worked with the highly skilled Kenya workers to dig the trenches, pour the cement, and carry the stones that they needed to lay the foundations for new buildings. The old school buildings had been built in the 60s and 70s of mud and sticks, and therefore needed much repair and light to be more conducive to learning. We were just lucky enough to be able to provide that for them! Chilling with the kids at recess was one of the greatest times! They may have only had one meal that day and had no shoes, but they were always happy. Wonderful people all around.

Teach, Learn, Share

share about an area of the world--Africa--that many outsiders categorize as helpless and tribal, when in fact it has some of the most beautiful and amazing people and geography anywhere...that's the passion I can share
I would like to learn anything someone has to offer...maybe specifically more about European culture because I have never focused my attention on that area of the world
