About Me

To eat a double cheeseburger in every country.

Hola friends, my name is Teddy and I was born and raised in Chicago. I'm a proud 23 year old Mexicrean (half Korean and half Mexican). I recently completed my studies at Boston University and graduated with a bachelors degree in international relations with a focus on environmental sustainability and world development.

What are a few things you should know that describe me?
Well all of my friends know me as the guy who never stops. I am great at organizing and I love planning events, social gatherings, trips, you name it. Music has a special place in my heart and is essentially what I live for. I have been to more concerts and music festivals than I can count: Ultra, Sensation White, Love Evolution, Electric Zoo, Electric Daisy Carnival L.A. & Las Vegas, HARD Halloween, Electric Forest, Lollapalooza, Summer Camp, North Coast, Summerfest, etc. I love it, I can't stop! My favorite music genres are electronic/house/drumb & bass/dubstep, but I do love all types of music. Some of my favorite artists include Coldplay, The Killers, Red Hot Chili Pepeprs, and Lady Gaga (whom I've met!). Many of my best friends today are individuals who I have met and danced with at music events. I take pride in that fact that we have kept close - some of us travel regularly around the states and in Europe :)

What did I do this summer?
I spent most of my time at the pool where I grew up working as the Head Swim Coach and the Assistant Manager to the Aquatic Facility. At the moment, I am currently working at my dads law firm in preparation for the journey ahead. However, I have been way more than overwhelmed this summer, meaning I have had little time for myself or to really sit down and plan this trip. I have been receiving a few messages from interested hosts/travel guides. If I am a bit slow to reply to your messages, trust me I will. Thank you so much for all of the thoughtful suggestions and offers!

Future Travel Plans:
At the beginning of November, i will be setting off from L.A. to join 2 of my college classmates (both female) on a trip through Southeast Asia. Surprisingly enough, we have a few friends living around the area, but for the most part we will be travelling, couchsurfing, WWOOFing, and teaching English on our own. We are in the midst of our planning, but a rough sketch of our travels are as follows: China, Laos, Southern India, Dubai, Northern India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and maybe Australia. We would love to cross paths with some fellow couchsurfers during our travels. Bring on the fun, the music, the dancing, the sights, the architecture, the trains, the everything! Please feel free to get in touch, we would love to make this a trip of a lifetime.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have only surfed one couch and met up with a few CS's in Europe, but I am looking forward to hosting and showing visiting CS's around Chicago.

From Millennium Park, the Bean & Face Fountains to Navy Pier, Lincoln Park, North Avenue Beach, the Air & Water Show, Lollapalooza, Boystown, Wrigley Field, Michigan Avenue, Bars, Jazz, Electronica, Festivals and more... there is so much to do in Chicago! Take a chance and explore the Windy City.

In the summer of 2011, I chose to travel around Europe after I finished my studies in London. I had the opportunity to experience my first CS experience in Vicenza, Italy. Claudio was a fantastic host who made me feel right at home. Keep in mind, I could not and still do not speak any Italian, but both Claudio and his friends tried their best to communicate. Luckily, Claudio could speak some English which made the language barrier a little easier. I had a unique opportunity to explore their city, taste some Italian delicacies, go clubbing, and soak up a real Italian lifestyle.

I have surfed with:
*Claudio from Vicenza Italy

I have hosted:
*Ryan from Texas USA
*Jenny from Houston USA

I have met up with:
*Azar from Berlin Germany
*Eser from Istanbul Turkey

To being Lifelong friends is my #1 goal.

While studying abroad in London, I was able to experience the political side of International Relations. However, politics really aren't for me. I am a huge proponent of water sanitation & clean water supply and management for all human beings on this earth. Environmental sustainability, pollution and the management of both both urban and rural transportation is of much interest as well. I believe that an investment in clean energy, technology and efficient transportation systems can really turn a city around and improve the livelihood and health of our planet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honolulu, Hawaii:
My cousins live in Hawaii, which gives my family an opportunity to visit paradise. There is a place on Oahu called China Walls. This is on the Northeast side of the island. We went cliff jumping which was a huge thrill. Warning: athleticism and swimming skills are a must. Hiking up to Pillboxes was a great time too. There are abandoned bunkers on the top of cliffs with bright and elaborate graffiti and spray paint. Beautiful views!
