About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make a difference. Have fun. Life's too short.
ABOUT ME
I love hearing peoples' stories and can be talkative if you're in the mood to chat. I'm open and honest in my communication and pretty down to earth (as the expression goes).
I am a do-er -- I'm pretty active with home projects, hiking the countryside, walking to/from Centro for music, movies, art exhibits, concerts, dining out, etc, or traveling locally or afar. Though I enjoy reading, I find it difficult to sit for hours doing it! Audiobooks are my friends.
I guess Im a rolling stone. I lived in the northeastern USA for my first 22 years - born in New Jersey, high school in New York, and university in Vermont. At 22, I drove cross country to live on the "West Coast." To California. I moved around a bit (So Cal, the Central valley and Northern CA), but stayed for 18 years.
From there, I headed to the Pacific Northwest to the Puget Sound area of Washington state. I stayed 20 years until 2016 when I left the USA entirely.
That year I'd decided to leave my employment and live overseas for 6 months to a year. After exploring several places, I decided on Colombia, South America.
Six months "into it," I realized I didn'twant to go back to the USA. I bought a house and lived in Antioquia for 5+ years.
In late 2019, I decided Valencia, Spain, was to be my next home. I put my Colombia home up for sale, but the pandemic quickly thwarted my plan.
After finally being allowed to fly, in June of '21, I visited San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato, Mexico. I moved here the following January.
Once upon a time, I studied life sciences, but right before finishing my degree, switched and finished in earth sciences. I feel fortunate to have a grasp of what makes the natural world go around. I'm still trying to figure out mankind though!
Among other employment ventures, I was an elementary school teacher for 10 years. I loved teaching,
I then opened and ran a marine foundation in the Pacific NW USA. We were funded primarily by yacht donations and offered educational programs to the public. It was a super opportunity. I'd intended to teach again, but the business grew quickly, and it took way too much time to play on boats!
I later was the business manager for an environmental NGO, which focused on ecological economics and ecosystem service valuations. Read up on ecological economics - it's something we should all be aware of (like our own physiology and anatomy)!
PHILOSOPHY
Golden Rule + "Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth".
