About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to construct time

ABOUT ME

I'm a very happy and friendly person... I grew up in the countryside with a humble desire to breed cats and live on my own with all my adopted children, staying up until the early hours writing fairy letters to them and chilling out with my cats. In reality I spend most of my time studying Arabic and reading Social anthropology and Middle Eastern history - although when I'm not studying I also enjoy riding and fixing my bike, doing yoga, swimming in the sea, catching crabs, killing them and eating them even though im usually a vegetarian. i love goats, I think they might be my favourite animals.. although I also love elephants and dolpihins of course but also whales and turtles and cats...ok thats a long enough list of animals. I spend a lot of time volunteering as well...doing various exciting things. I think everyone should volunteer. I love smiling. I think evryone should smile. I love 'clicking' witha stranger you happen to talk to in a queue or on the street. Children are hilarious and outrageous and i love their freedom. I wish we were all as free as children - well maybe not quite - but sometimes i wish I were as free as a child or a bird.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live in a way that benefits other people or in a way that i think could benefit others. I think everyone should enjoy the magic of life and this increidble world, it's environment and it's people --- but responsibly and with integrity. I also think that everyone should use their talents to the benefit of the world and all its inhabitants... tiny insects and sea creatures, one cell organisms, animals and humans... and to preserve our clean waters... if only... and rich hearty soils. We should take what we need and put what we take back in. It's simple and logical. Oscar Wilde said that only some people live, while most simply exist. I choose to live and I acknowledge the privilige of that choice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I partcicpated in a CS festival in Edinburgh last summer - It was SO much fun and I made some really good friend who Im still in touch with today there. We played some am ace highland games - like seeing how far you could throw a log and welly-lobbing... I live in a house with 5 other people - we're all of different nationalities - and we regualarly host --- at least a couple of people a month which is really fun. Kristina is the flat couch surfer coordinator so if she has some people staying - that means I do too... I'll definitely be involved in more CS community projects in teh near future and hope to host when Im living in Cairo next year.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I enjoyed couch surfing in India in the beautiful ancient city of hampi with its vast red river, its religious elephants who pray before monasteries and 'bless' you if you give it a ruppee and its vivacious children...and of course its infamous ruins from the last hindu Vijayanagara empire which was sacked by the Muslim empire over 500 yrs ago. Magical place. I also love hosting people and we have had some really amazing people who I felt after a couple of days were our new flat mates and I really didnt want them to leave! But they'll be back... or ill go and stay with them!

Interests

Oh well Ive listed some above already but... running, yoga, climbing, painting, sculpting, permaculture, CHILDREN and their sense of humlour, smiling has got to be one of my favourites, dressing up and dressing down - i enjoy both equally - discoveing a new taste - whether its food, hideous clothing, new crazy music, hair colour... cultures and religions and personalities and tyrants and despots and trying to make the world a better place
