About Me

This profile is really old and I haven't really been active on this site for quite some time. My new living arrangement allows me to host again and I'd be happy to do so.

However, I'm not looking to host people who are just seeking cheap accommodation or a place to kill a few hours

Also, I'm currently not planning to host during Oktoberfest

________

Old profile:

"Average looks, average taste
Average height, an average waist
Average in everything I do
My temperature is 98.2"

I recently moved back to Munich.

I like bars, lakes, mountains, museums, galleries, theaters, and concert venues. I'm interested in current affairs, politics, and media. I like being outdoors, exploring cities and meeting strangers.

I like to write, but I hardly write.

I've traveled a lot (very surprising on this website!) and spent a lot in Latin America, studying abroad, doing volunteer work and hanging around at beautiful, interesting, and strange places. I have a PhD in hostel small-talk.

I like drinking beer at a divey bar, walking at the beach, biking through town, and drinking coffee or tea. I also like sports, but I have yet to find the one I'm good at. Once in a while, staying at home in pajamas can be quite exciting, too.

Somehow relevant interests that I have forgotten to mention: Photography, (Independent) Cinema, Dogs, Architecture, Gin Tonic, eating and cooking

PHILOSOPHY

"Sometimes while I ride the subway I try to look at each person and imagine what they look like to someone who is totally in love with them. I think everyone has had someone look at them that way, whether it was a lover, or a parent, or a friend, whether they know it or not. It'™s a wonderful thing, to look at someone to whom I would never be attracted and think about what looking at them feels like to someone who is devouring every part of their image, who has invisible strings that are connected to this person tied to every part of their body. I think this fun pastime is a way of cultivating compassion. It feels good to think about people that way, and to use that part of my mind that I think is traditionally reserved for a tiny portion of people I'€™ll meet in my life to appreciate the general public. I wish I thought about people like this more often. I think it's the opposite of what our culture teaches us to do. We prefer to pick people apart to find their flaws. Cultivating these feelings of love or appreciation for random people, and even for people I don’t like, makes me a more forgiving and appreciative person toward myself and people I love. Also, it's just a really excellent pastime." Dean Spade

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted, surfed, and I have met some great people through this site.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed in Medellín/Colombia and still can't think of a better start to my semester abroad there. I surfed several times in Colombia and went to a few meetings. Even though this was years ago, I still often think about the people that I met and the experiences that I wouldn't have made without Couchsurfing.
I try to give something back, too. I've hosted a few times in the past and showed quite a few people around.
