ABOUT ME

ALL about me, yes, there is no such thing. nevertheless, i live to try and search for whatever cannot be found.

PHILOSOPHY

THEY ARE NO MENT TO BE LOOKED AT

Everyday we see pictures of other people, any kind of people. We see pictures of ourselves even, in the mirror, a window’s reflection, a photograph. These images are unavoidable in most (western) societies today. How do they then influence our idea of reality, our image of ourselves and of others? We tend to believe that the camera has the honest and objective eye with the power to reveal the truth about the world. Does the camera solely display what exists?

Throughout history male gaze has reigned upon the depiction of this reality. Through painting, literature, philosophy and – photography – men have had the privilege to tell the story of millions of people. More recently, women have gotten the chance to tell their stories as well.

What happens when WE get to play with the image, the vision and the gaze? When we get to explore the beauty of this world? Tell our own stories?

The phenomena of young women using self-portraiture not only to expose themselves, but also taking control of their own depiction, their own identity. If this amazing tool could be used further on to reveal an inner character I believe we can continue the process of making these stories even more comprehensive.

I believe WE will be able to increase the scope and idea of a woman’s beauty.
