Overview
About Me
i have been on this site for a long time, and have had many different things written here.
Straight up I must say you need to read about us before you ask us to host you.
I have noticed a lot of ' last minute ' requests coming through, from people who have very few details on their profile. Why would I let you stay in my home with my family? I understand information privacy, but, please respect us by distinguishing yourself from every other stranger .
i do not accept everyone who asks because not everyone fits with our lifestyle.
about us:
we are pretty simple people, prefer recreation outdoors in the sun and water - thus living on a tropical island. try to go swimming a few mornings a week, things like that.
If you smoke, don't expect to stay long with us.
We work hard so,
Our rest time and relaxation time is limited but crucial . Please be prepared to entertain yourself somewhere on the island throughout the day during work hours, and respectfully fit in with our schedules. Or, help us relax.
PHILOSOPHY
" if u know better , do better"
Open mindedness and willingness to explore the options of life,
Culinary respectful - but we eat meat, we don't mind if you don't, but please be prepared for meat to be cooked around you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Previously I traveled a lot, so I was on this site (and others ) in order to join the groups and meet ups, have real experiences, learn insights to the cities I was visiting that would otherwise not have reveal themselves. I found that by spending my Accommodation budget on gifts or groceries or a shared experience, that my own travels expanded, that opportunities for personal growth evolved. And most importantly, real relationships and friendships grew.
Please read to details of our profile, it we do not fit in with your lifestyle then do not ask us to host you.
I understand that the Caribbean can be a very different place to explore compared to a city in Europe . perhaps you can tell me what you hope to get out of your island time?
(ok, this next bit was written after a bad couch surfing experience, i have kept it here as a reminder to myself, and to give perspective):
Do not come to this island expecting to have free accommodation. It is not a cheap island. Do not come here expecting to find a host at the last minute. it is not like Europe.
I have made many posts in the past about the budget accommodation options available to travelers - look up the forums.
I may be starting to sound harsh, honestly we do like to have a good time too but We are not here to host your hangovers.
.
Previously.: i have been quite insulted by attitudes of disrespect and lying. If the ethos you life by is inconsistent between act and words, then do not be surprised by my honest remarks in your feedback.
Interests
sailing, water sports, ... many
Together we are actually interested in meeting people with progressive minds, thinkers and doers.
We have lots of projects and wish to achieve a lot with our lives - if your a heavy drinker, and love the party scene now is not the right time to stay with us.
We like good manners and good music. A good hot curry goes a long way too.
Which brings me to my question : TELL ME WHAT YOU LIKE TO COOK.
its as simple as that. Cheers!

Music, Movies, and Books
We don't do junk tv, so don't expect to relax to your favourite soap operas during your time with us.
were more interested in content than gosip. life is to be lived, full of independent thinking, giving wide berth to vexatious spirits.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Had a baby
Teach, Learn, Share
EXPECTAtIONS of our surfers:
If your young, and have never lived out of home, and are not conscious enough to be 'house trained' - If your coming to st maarten to party and rave, then were not the hosts for you.
We have a kitchen (now), so if you can cook then bring your skills and tallents - its easy enough to show you where to buy good things on the island.
If you cant cook, but want to learn, then we can share some knowledge easily.
Then and there is always ways to contribute in honour of your visit.
You won't get house keys, so expect to be home when we are, and not when we are not.
I will do what i can to help you get up to our place, but I'm not a taxi, and there are hills. Be warned.
Don't rely on air- con
We usually have a lazy Sunday morning, at least one day of relaxation
What I Can Share with Hosts
When you ask to surf please give me some specific information about yourself, especially if you do not have much information on your profile. Understand that you will be coming into a home not a hostel.
Tell us things like
- why are you coming to this island
- what you expect it to be like
- do you like children.
- weather you like animals,
- are you a late night person or early morning person.?
