About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I passionately believe that the solutions that we long for and need will come from within our communities.

ABOUT ME
I've lived in Chicago all of my adult life and I STILL find this city exciting. I know many nooks, crannies and out of the way places.

My friends would say that I tirelessly promote cooperatives as a lifestyle solution that enables us to live enjoy more satisfying, abundant lives while living more lightly on the earth.

I am community oriented - a joiner, a "sure, I can do that" kind of person.

PHILOSOPHY

No one really wins unless we all win. I am on this earth to nurture healthy communities. I'm still figuring out how to do thethat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think about what's missing and what could make a situation better and then try to fill in the gap. I often put my neck out there hoping that someone will join my effort. Depending on the group, they often do.

I'm hatching a plan to facilitate social gatherings to tell the cooperative story and illustrate the rich potential. Half the world's population (3 billion people) rely on co-ops for their livelihood.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed in Reno, NV for 2 or 3 nights several years ago and it turned what would have been a dreary, boring trip into a very pleasant one. My host was delightful.

Couchsurfing opens up a whole new world for the host and the guest.

Interests

I spend a lot of time thinking about community building and how to nurture healthy, responsive communities. My major pursuit is hatching a business model to promote cooperatives by hosting social gatherings.
I spend a lot of time writing and need to do even more of it. I never run out of material but I'm well acquainted with writers' block.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read but spend most of my time on periodicals such as the New York Times, Yes! Magazine, Ode and non-fiction. Two books that changed my world view are The Fourth Turning and The Chalice and The Blade.
Other books: Winner Take All Politics, all of Malcolm Gladwell's books.

I mostly like the blues, rock & roll and ethnic music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm developing a business to facilitate home sharing with people who like each other. After years of effort - thinking, writing, connecting - it's finally coming together nicely.
Nature is where I'm most likely to be awestruck.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can consume less and live better as we learn to rely on others to fill in the gaps.
