Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To help create the most effective practices for climate change activists!
ABOUT ME
One foot in the geek world, one in the humanistic peer-counseling world, and one in the political and environmental activist world (focused on sustainability). (And a finger in the dry-humor universe.)
PHILOSOPHY
People are good. You are good. I am good. But we can do things that are NOT good (I used to design weapon systems, go figure. Fortunately, long ago I got a clue and quit!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Have hosted our first guest here in our EcoVillage at home. Hope to be hosted on my travels down under (I'm traveling there by myself; wife is back home)!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm a newbie to this web-enabled approach, but have certainly "couchsurfed" in various places around the USA before it was an official term :)
My past "hosts" have been surprised at what a small footprint I've made (I've required very little, if anything, from them - I'm definitely low maintenance :)
Interests
I'm in a couple of groups working to halt climate change, while on my own developing online tools for 1) reducing the effects of fear, and 2) increasing the accuracy of our mental models. My current travels in Australia have me connecting with climate change activists and a climate scientist.
For fun and socializing, I enjoy contradancing and waltzing, with a few Scandinavian dances thrown in.
For inspiration, I spend a lot of time in a cabin in the woods, and I love hiking (Oregon is a great place for that!)
For healing the past and figuring out what to do in the future, I engage in peer counseling, both in person and over the phone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Designed and built my first computer 50 years ago as a science fair project - it was one of 26 projects from 11 western states to be displayed at an engineering convention.
Teach, Learn, Share
