About Me

I'm a young, kindhearted woman who recently decided that she would like to know more about the world.

Ever since I was a little girl there have been three things I love unconditionally. First of all my family. I wouldn't know what I'd be without them. Secondly, from the moment I was handed my first Harry Potter novel, it changed my life. Hufflepuf pride forever! Lastly - and although I tried I can't rationally explain this one - I love Ireland. To me it's the perfect place for a holiday, and every time I visit it feels more and more like home.

There are not many things that bore me, but the things I love most, are stories. These come in many forms. Wherever I am, I will always carry a book with me. Sitting in the park in summertime and reading my book can really make my day. In wintertime, I like to curl up in a blanket in front of the TV and watch a film or series. But the best stories are the ones you hear from other people.

I'm also really into environmental issues. It astonishes me still to this very day that most people don't care or couldn't be bothered less about the world we live in and all it provides us with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is I believe the best, most genuine way to learn about the world. You get to meet all kinds of different people and there's never a dull moment. You go to places you wouldn't even now existed if you only followed the classic travel guides. But most of all, you feel connected to the place you're visiting in a way a hotel, B&B or camping site can never match.

Interests

At the top of this list you have: going to the local pub with friends and listen to a band playing or just talk about stuff. Friends are important in life. It doesn't always have to be a visit to the pub. Often it happens we just meet up at someone's place and just hang out there. Some of us meet once or twice a month to play boardgames. Fun garanteed :).
I also like walking and hiking. Preferably in the woods. It relaxes me and makes me feel whole.

Although I like to travel, I also enjoy coming home. To be back, seeing my family again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Playing the drums myself, I really like listening to music. Mostly rock and indie, but I don't really have a preference. Depending on my mood it ranges from metal to even experimental jazz.

Books of course I have (and have read) plenty of. Doesn't matter what kind. As long as it has a good storyline or an interesting view on the word, I'm sold.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It might not sound amazing to everyone, but the first time I really went travelling (not some holiday with the parents or summercamp or anything), I convinced my best friend to go cycling in Ireland, with tent and everything. For four weeks I cursed every steep mountain we had to cross (and there are plenty of those in Ireland) but I'd never felt more proud of myself! A few years later I went back by myself and hiked across most of County Cork and Tipperary. Now I go every year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm probably still in the phase in life where I can learn more than teach.
I have had french lessons in school, but since that was ages ago and I haven't used it much since, I would like to learn it again. The most powerless feeling in the world is the inability to express myself to someone even though I perfectly know what to say.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My amiable company, listening ear and short - though little interesting i think - life's story.
