So I put my profile on not accepting guests because I just received too many messages and most of them were quite rude and I will already be hosting people this entire month. But for whatever reason I apparently still show up and got over 30 messages since I changed my status to not accepting guests and now people are even ruder? I totally support this project but I'm very busy and I take the time to read your message and consider you staying in my apartment where you would get your own room. I am sorry but I don't think it's too much to put a little bit more effort in the messages (most messages are: hey I'm bla and I want to stay in your apartment then and then. Ok thanks bye).
My name is Tessa, I'm 25 and I'm studying Religion, Conflict and Globalization in the Netherlands. I have my own place with a tiny guestroom in the city.
I enjoy good conversations, good food (I'm a vegetarian, sometimes trying to go vegan), running, yoga, dancing, and my degree. I like people who are open minded, kind and patient. I lived in Amsterdam in the past, but only just moved back in June (after five years living in Berlin/NYC) to live here for the summer to finish my degree. I don't know the city as well as I used to so I may not be the best tour guide at the moment but I can give you some tips.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I don't mean to be rude, but I live in the city center and have a guestroom so I get 20-30 requests every day. There are therefore many requests where dates overlap. It would help if you actually put some information your request, so that I know a little bit about who you are, what your plans are, etc. It is also helpful if you have references and pictures and if you (as a man) are aware of the following, as I've had many inappropriate messages or even experiences with guests:
I know you all know this, but sometimes you might need someone to remind you; CouchSurfing is NOT a dating site and I don't like to be approached as if it is. I will not host you if you are even a little flirtatious in your request and if I agree to show you around it will be as a CS friend - never a date or anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took care of my grandma (who is almost 98!) several times for a couple of weeks. Some of the most difficult and most beautiful experiences. I'm currently writing my MA and I'm in the Honors program so once that's finished that will be another amazing thing I have done! There's much more, but we can talk about that some time!
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about terrorism, racism, feminism. I'm very patient when it comes to discussing these topics and I love to teach people more about these topics. I'd love to meet people from a large variety of backgrounds so I can continue learning.
