About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To look at life and my part in it widely, creatively and acceptingly. To stop panicing!

ABOUT ME

Heelllo!

My name is Tessa (what a clever way to start this...). I'm a 22 year old girl living in Jyväskylä, Central Finland.

Currently I am a University student here in Jyväskylä. It's my fourth year of studying Speech Communication, Philosophy and Women's studies. The truth is, I still have no idea what I want to be! This might also be because for the most part I spend my time, not studying but doing theatre here in the Jyväskylä University theatre. ;)

I'm a rather outgoing and positive person. I like getting to know different people and having all kinds of conversations. I'm not the craziest of party girls but I definitely do like to go out and do all kinds of crazy stuff, wether it's the normal bar thing or doing a spectacle surprise performance on the street :)

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not that into all those "life can be anything you make out of it" or "you can achieve anything you want to!" thoughts. Of course I like to think that I have power over my own life, but then again individual achievemets are not everything to me. I think the main goal we should have in life is try to make it happy as a whole, with others, as we are what we are only when coming into contact with other beings.

I have no religious beliefs. But I do believe in goodness and thinking of others :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Traveling is something that I've done in various ways since I was a little kid (an example? sleeping under a bus seat while traveling through Germany). For budget reasons - as I am one of those poor university students - and probably because of laziness I haven't been traveling that much lately. I think this site is a great way to make traveling and meeting people easier and a lot more exciting, "real" in a way?

I am participating in the CS project by offering my home and my experiences and company for fellow couch surfers! And also would like to participate by meeting others when abroad :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any personal experiences yet. A lot of my friends have used this site though and I've heard nothing but great things about it. I'm hoping to add some of my own experiences soon :)

Interests

Like I already mentioned, theatre is a big passion
of mine - performing, talking about it, seeing plays, you name it! I'm also very interested in any other forms of performing arts, like dance or contemporary circus.

Music is a big interest of mine too. Playing (I've played the piano since I was a little kid and also attempt to play the guitar every once in a while), singing and listening to music.

I like talking about anything really. :) Long philosophical talks or just an every day chat, I like interacting with people.

I'm very interested in gender issues and equality matters, but I won't force feminism up anyone's throat, I promise!
