To enjoy life and travelling at a more sedate pace than the last 8 years...they've been amazing, but the baby demands I SLOW down!

ABOUT ME

I tend to fill up my time pretty far into the future (I like a 'grand' plan!). So if you're thinking of heading over to Wales, don't be shy to ask to surf far in advance! I'm aiming to spend the rest of my life with the kind of travel/work balance that my University days allowed. I enjoy hard hard work in concentrated bursts, then enough play time to recover! Any tips on careers to maximise play time and minimise work time gratefully received!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My husband and I have been keen to host for the last year or so, though we've been crazy busy with work: it's my first year in a proper teaching job and my husband is finishing a PHD. We are just in the process of buying a house....and we are expecting a baby this winter...! So, we're taking a few months out of hosting (and surfing!) because with all the mini dramas that come with buying a house and getting increasingly bigger day by day...we're not feeling very reliable as hosts. Ask us for a coffee, a surf (in the sea), a walk or a tour of the town and I'm sure we'll find time though!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've loved all the amazingly generous people I've met whilst travelling, I need to share out my couch in exchange for all the great floor spaces/beds I've laid down on! Buses and other transport have proved especially good places to meet lovely people. Or whilst looking lost with a map on a street corner, many wonderful people have come to my aid.

Mmm...skinny-dipping in the Cook Islands with electric blue tiny fish swimming around me...and in a deserted beach up in Scotland's Outer Hebrides - cold!
