Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:

(I wrote this section in 2009 when I was finishing college and I like the idea of leaving it as a little piece of history.)

When I was 16 I traveled to Europe alone for the first time. I met a friend from high school in Paris and we went to Spain together. In San Sebastian we met some Aussies who rented a flat and shared their space with us, and I'll never forget the experience! When I lived in Aspen one winter I finally had the opportunity to share MY space - I hooked up two Kiwi's with a place to sleep while they were looking for work/places to live. Since then I have been traveling at every opportunity I get! I frequently travel around the U.S. visiting family/friends. In 2001, my first overseas trip, I went skiing in Switzerland and France. In 2003 I went for the first time to England and studied Spanish in Spain. In 2004 I went to France and returned to Spain to run with the bulls. In 2005 I was invited to play with the Fairbanks orchestra and traveled to Alaska. In 2007 I visited ski school buddies in South Africa and saw The Rolling Stones in London. In 2008 I visited my cousin in Russia and explored Belarus, Poland, Prague, and Greece. In 2009 I visited a friend in New Zealand and sailed off the island of Fiji before visiting Australia.

SINCE THEN (AN UPDATE): In 2010 I traveled to Shanghai and Beijing, China with a friend to visit his family. In 2011 I moved from NYC (Brooklyn) to Portland, OR. In 2013 I moved back to NYC and then to Tokyo. While working in Japan I traveled to Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Seoul, Vietnam, and Cambodia. A year later, I moved back to the US - Austin, TX.

It's true. I'm a wanderer.
