Hi! I’m Thabang — an adventurous and open-minded traveller originally from South Africa, currently a Master’s student at the University of Essex. I’m passionate about meeting new people, learning from different cultures, and exchanging stories over a refreshing glass of juice (or tea if that’s what’s available!).

I study Artificial Intelligence and work as a full stack developer, so I enjoy conversations about tech, innovation, and how AI is shaping the world. Outside of work and study, I love discovering hidden gems in cities, hiking, cooking, and exploring local traditions wherever I go.

I see Couchsurfing as a fantastic way to connect with locals, experience places authentically, and share kindness and good vibes. I’m easygoing, respectful, and always happy to lend a hand or share experiences — whether that’s through conversation, food, or exploring together.

I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe travel is about more than just seeing places — it’s about connecting with people, sharing experiences, and learning from different cultures. I want to meet locals, hear their stories, and experience cities and towns in an authentic way that you just can’t get from a guidebook or hotel.

I also hope to give back by sharing my own experiences, helping out where I can, and building friendships across the world.

I moved across the world to pursue my Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Essex — stepping out of my comfort zone to explore new cultures, ideas, and ways of life. It’s been an incredible journey of personal growth and adventure so far!

I’m always eager to learn about new cultures, local traditions, languages, and recipes.
