About Me

I'm a 28-year-old girl from São Paulo, Brazil, and I am also a portuguese citzen.

I'm graduated in Biomedical Sciences and I have a Msc. Currently, I'm doing a PhD in molecular biology at Federal University of Sao Paulo, but I am on a research internship at University of Porto, Portugal, untill the end of 2018. My main subject of research is thyroid cancer.

I enjoy a healthy lifestyle, and running is one of my passions. I've done two full marathons and a lot of half marathons as well, I also love travelling and exploring new places, specially because I am a history enthusiastic! The best way to learn new cultures and understand the people is through travels and shared experiences. I've been to many countries, but have so many more on the wishlist!

Also, I'm such a bookworm and love to talk about my favorite authors and give good reccomendations. In general, very easy to talk to about pretty much anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my favorite things in the world is travelling. Besides visiting new places, I love to experience a culture a little bit deeper. I think that when you stay with a person that lives in the place you're in, you get a glance of what it's like to live there, what locals like to do, where they eat, their preferences. It's a very very cool experience and a wonderful way to know the world!

Interests

I am a marathon runner, passionate about a healthy lifestyle. I really enjoy sports like running, hiking, cycling and outdoor life in general. I like to explore new places by foot, 'cause I think it's the best way to pay attention to details.
I enjoy small get-toghters with friends and going to bars and pubs.
Also a huge fan of series and movies, and a big reader of books.
I wanna see our world, the parks, museums, food, places and people!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really love indie and classic rock, but I'm also very ecletic. Pop, Reggae, Funk, EDM or according to my mood. Favourite bands are Pink Floyd, Queen, The Killers, The Black Keys and Legião Urbana.
Among my favourite books, Jane Austen novels and every policial novel I can find, like Tess Geritsen, Harlan Coban and Gyllian Flynn. Ficcticious plot are preferred! Also major fan of strong female authors, like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Margareth Atwood.
I really do hate horror movies! I like everything else, specially Nolan, Woody Allen and Tarantino movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think running 42 kilometers (26,2 miles) it's a pretty amazing thing! I've always sttrugled with my wheight, I way a over-wheighted child who hated sports and was always picked up last in gym class. In the last 5 years, I've decided to completely change my lifestyle and my relationship with food. I started to run to lose wheight, but it has become my passion, my therapy, my getaway. To be able to complete a marathon I had to discipline myself, and fight against the person I was. I think it is a journey of self discovery, where you learn that you're much stronger than you think. Running helps me to be better in life, and to get closer to the person I want to be.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about science in general, and have good conversations about medicine, investigation, new findings and the future of medicine (not that I am a specialist, but I've learned a few things in the past 9 years of my education).

I'd love to learn about other cultures and societies, and I can share some of the places I've been and the cultures I met. Also, since I lived in two countries, I can tell you anything you'd like to ask about it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very comunicative person. I love to share stories and learn with other people. Besides good stories about Brazil, Science and my world view, I can cook a very good meal! I also make very tasteful desserts and I'd love to prepare lunch or dinner to someonelse.
We can share travel experiences or have conversations about history.
I am a very organized person, and I can help organize stuff.
I also can teach portuguese :) (or chemistry/biology)
