About Me
This profile is for me (Angela) and my husband Levi (age 31).
I work in event planning and Levi is a former theater kid who now does technical production for large corporate events. I grow a little garden, so if you stay here you have a very solid chance of being treated to some fresh produce, or once the season has passed some canned goods.
We have three very friendly cats who love visitors, so unfortunately people with allergies may not find this to be a good fit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been a member for almost 10 years now. I am a huge proponent of getting to know the heart of the places you visit, and couchsurfing is the best way I have found to make that happen. I have been hooked since my first CS trip in Honduras in 2009. Levi and I have gotten a lot more active with hosting recently, and we are having a blast meeting new people!
Interests
Photography is a favorite of mine. I particularly love finding old, disused buildings to explore and photograph. Cooking new foods and discovering new restaurants would also be high on the list, as well as mixing up new cocktails. I had fun growing the first garden of my adult life last summer, including canning and preserving the bounty that we can't eat immediately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most amazing experience to date would have to be the semester I spent studying in Mongolia. I was able to stay with two different nomadic families, and help out with all areas of their lives, from herding sheep and goats on horseback to hauling water from a distant stream to cooking and eating boiled guts for 4 straight meals to enjoying a singing get-together for the whole community where we drank fermented mares' milk while circling the fire. I visited the Gobi Desert and learned from Buddhist lamas. I helped produce a play that practiced at the British Ambassador's house and included all sorts of fascinating expats. I spent a month working with NGOs and locals studying a political riot and the ensuing human rights issues. I spent Thanksgiving hosting fellow students, program administrators, friends made along the way, and some completely random travelers from Russia and Ireland we met on the street right before dinner. (Come to think of it, they even wound up staying with us a couple of days, so maybe that counts as unofficial couchsurfing?)
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't suppose there is anyone around who wants to learn how to put up a ger (yurt) or learn a few random words of Mongolian, is there? As far as more "normal" things go, I think I'm a pretty good cook, and I love sharing stories of my travels and life on an American farm.
