Overview
About Me
I'm a university student currently studying political science/economics and philosophy at a school called Minerva - through this, I move to seven cities around the world (so far we've been to San Francisco, Seoul, and India - the next is Berlin). I'm currently traveling on a month off of school before I'll be based in New York for the rest of the summer for an internship with a social impact/sustainability consulting company. I love to cook and bake (especially bread) and reading and writing are both big parts of my life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to experience places through the eyes of someone who really lives there in order to avoid places which are well known/touristy and get a sense of a new city from a perspective it would be hard to gain on my own, without the help of a host. It also helps to build connections with a place rather than simply staying in a hotel or hostel and a sense of reciprocity (people helping people rather than everything being about monetary gain) and although I'm not in a place long enough to host right now, is definitely something I will do in the future to pay it forward.
Interests
I love to travel and live in new places, and I especially enjoy outdoor activities in those places (going on hikes, walks, swimming, visiting parks or spots with the nicest views, etc.) and finding the best places to eat. I also love learning as much of the local language as I can (even if it's only some basics) and walking around a new city without a plan.
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of alternative and electronic music (a lot of French artists) and I'm getting more into jazz music as well. I read a lot (both fiction and nonfiction) - I love Murakami novels and general reading about philosophy/spirituality (e.g. Eckhart Tolle, M. Scott Peck) and poetry.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did bike touring around the North of Thailand in 2016 with a few friends - for a couple of weeks, we cycled between cities and got to see lots of smaller towns and parts of the countryside in a way I've never traveled before. I also got to go to Burning Man in South Africa this year, which was an amazing experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to bake bread (it's not as hard as it seems!) and teach you some French if you would like.
