ABOUT ME

Just graduated from the University of Ottawa for teachers college, and married a fellow cycle tourer. We're in our first year of teaching now (ugh!), and are generally super stressed out, but we keep it going by dreaming of cycling travel adventures to come. Next year we are taking off for a year-long tour of Europe, New Zealand, South East Asia, and wherever else we might happen to fancy.

PHILOSOPHY

Whoa, haven't figured that one out yet.

I do have a travel philosophy, though, I suppose. I think it should be done slowly. I dislike jumping from city to city - every art gallery starts to look the same. Stay for awhile instead. A few months in one place. And get out of the city, find a bike, and follow the canal down to the sea.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted a couple times when I was living in a little town in the French Alps, and I surfed four times around France, three of them in small towns, and all of them really good experiences.

Interests

I'm a bit of a history nut - especially WWII and the black history of Chatham-Kent. I love the outdoors - would almost always choose to be outside rather than inside. I love live music and dancing (swing especially - 1940's big band, Charleston and Lindy Hop stuff), but I haven't got to do much of it this year. I discovered that I like traveling by bike, and I'm hoping to do more of that. I also like curling up with a good book, or sitting quietly in front of a beautiful view.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived a winter in the French Alps. Hiked in Iceland. Biked beside the sea in Denmark. Came across a moose on a portage in Ontario.
