About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am on a mission to discover my purpose for the world, by being the truest expression of what is in my heart.

ABOUT ME

I am living an amazing period of my life, and I hope it is just going to get more amazing. I don't think there has been a time before now that I have been so aware of my own existence. I am currently in a learning phase of my life, from which I hope to discover my purpose for giving back to this remarkable world.

I am an easy-going guy whom some might consider eccentric. I live in a van around Sydney, Australia, with my labrador, Blow. I wear bare feet unless I absolutely have to wear shoes - I like the connected feeling of contact with the Earth. I volunteer in my spare time for a youth leadership organisation, for which I am the fundraising director. I also volunteer for an animal assisted therapy charity, with my dog Blow: together we visit a day care centre for people with special needs - Blow is great at putting a smile on people's faces!

I believe we are all connected, and that we are all One. I believe the world is exactly where it needs to be right now, in order for it to move forwards into the next stage of our evolution. My journey at the moment is to find out what small part I may play in moving towards that, with great love.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that we are all connected and we are all One. Each of us is perfect in our essence and our greatest contribution to the world is to be the truest expression of what is in our hearts, whatever it is that may be in there.

My Intent is to: Move forwards within Love. This means, for me, that whatever I do, I test it against this Intent. If it does not move the world forwards within Love, then I don't do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I promote couchsurfing.com to everyone I meet - I think it is such an amazing idea and a really great use of modern technology. I love exchanging ideas with people, having conversations and finding our common ground, while celebrating our uniqueness as individuals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am currently travelling - I have been in France where I couchsurfed twice - both times were fantastic experiences and I got to meet to really lovely people. I am now off to India, and I hope to meet many more couchsurfers there! I can't wait to get to know new people in India.

Interests

I play the didgeridoo, enjoy painting, swimming, dancing, playing around, writing in my journal and drinking tea brewed in a billycan. I love meeting people and exploring their world through conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

'Papillon' is my current favourite movie. There are many parts of it which resonate with my life, as I move into a time of greater freedom.

My favourite book, at the moment, is Sex, Ecology, Spirituality by Ken Wilbur. It's not a fast read, but it is quite simply the most amazing book I have read in my life to date: please read it.

My current obsession has come back to my beloved didgeridoo, which I have picked up again after several years. This is giving me much joy, beauty, peace, meditation and connection with the ancient culture of indigenous Australia. I love playing the didge.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have ridden a bull in Northern Queensland at a rodeo. I decided to do it a few hours before the rodeo started. While the other riders were lending me the kit I would need to ride the bull, I asked one of the more experienced riders how dangerous it was. He told me that bull riding is the most dangerous sport you can do. It's a good job I had already paid my money to enter when I heard this, or I may not have done it. The most amazing thing that came out of it, though, was a much deeper appreciation for the animal; such a noble, beautiful creature - so strong and gentle. I can't blame him for throwing me off after 2.5 seconds.

Teach, Learn, Share

Something I would like to share is: being honest with yourself. This is something I have been working on a lot of the last few years. I have told myself so many little lies during my life, to make things easier, or to avoid having to have courage, to avoid having the conversation which needs to be had, to avoid making the change which needs to be made. I now notice with gentle curiosity what arises within me, and if I judge myself for what I do, I forgive myself for the judgement. I am much more aware of what I am doing and why I am doing it. I am more aware of when I have done something wrong, and what I should do to mend it. I have a long way to go, but being gently, but resolutely honest with myself has opened up many doors for me.
