About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the North!
ABOUT ME
I'm an MA student in French at OSU, but I'm probably going to get my PhD in history. I want to be Howard Zinn when I grow up.
I'm a crazy gay cosmopolitan Southerner from the Gulf Coast and I love traveling to fun and interesting places. I like museums a lot, and I spend at least twice as much time in them as tour books suggest, because I read EVERYTHING. I like sightseeing and nightlife, but the most important things to me are meeting real, local people and hearing their stories and eating their food.
PHILOSOPHY
I try and leave the world better than I found it, prodding it toward the realization of "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité" as best I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I`ve just been surfing, but when I get back to Columbus, I hope to host somebody soon. :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Sista be ridin` her bike in Detroit! I surfed for six days in Detroit for the U.S. Social Forum, and I got to spend lots of time seeing Motown.
Haven`t hosted yet, though.

Music, Movies, and Books
I Heart Huckabees, Metropolis, Amelie, Muriel's Wedding, Jack the Bear, Crash, We're No Angels, Topkapi, Drowning Mona, Jackie's Back, The Christmas Story, and V for Vendetta. I also love lots of documentaries, like The Corporation, Bowling for Columbine, and Order of Myths.
Nena, Kate Bush, B-52s, Talking Heads, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Rolling Stones, Ben Folds Five, Jean Leloup, Malajube. I like New Wave, indie rock, and music that sounds like its grandpa came from the Mississippi. I love classical music, too, particularly 19th Century: Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Schubert.
Le Petit Prince, Les Misèrables, The Great Gatsby, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, The Color Purple, and Leaves of Grass. In non-fiction, A People's History of the United States.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was there for the 400th anniversary celebration of Québec City and got to see the greatest piece of film art humankind has produced. Merci Robert Lepage!
I went to the heart of bayou country in Acadiana until I found people who could converse in native Cajun French with me.
I was there when the local Mobile band The Western Lands screened their first Metropolis rock concert. Best rock show ever.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could help somebody learn how to cook or drive a manual car. I also can help people learn French or English, but that usually takes a while.
