ABOUT ME

At 25, I've spent most of my life sheltered and afraid of life. It's all a load of old rubbish and everything looks terrifying. But no more! I am turning over a new leaf and discovering the good things about my life and the world at large. I've been making films for the past five years now, and have been writing and painting for some time longer. I've played guitar in rock bands since I was 19 years old, but never really seriously. I prefer to have fun. Like most people, I guess I'm a whole mess of contradictions, just like everyone else. I'm always up for fun, up for a laugh and a joke. I'm probably too clever for my own good and get depressed and philosophical very easily. I have a good sense of humour, that my friends tell me is "sarcastic yet comical". Apparently, deep down i'm a nice boy.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is an incredibly personal thing. Everyone deserves the chance to live as they wish without being judged by others.
Life isn't too short for regrets, but it's also long enough to put those regrets right.
Life is too short to spend it all in one place, and doing things that you hate.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm totally new to this, and only found out about couchsurfing very recently. I want to participate in this more, but at the moment, i live in a bedsit and dont even have a couch! After I've been travelling though, i'll be living near London and will have a nice place where I'd love to meet new people and help them out on their travels!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've not had a couchsurfing experience yet. However, when I went to Barcelona a couple years ago, I did manage to get a funny story. My friends and I were staying in a four bed private dorm. The first night were were there, was fine because there were only four of us. However, another couple friends of ours came the following day. We all went out and had a great night and then we tried to sneak them back into our dorm room to sleep on the floor. The guy at the front desk though saw us and kept threatening to call the police. Eventually we calmed him down, but they couldn't stay in the room. They ended up staying in the alley behind our room, sleeping rough on the street, and we had to throw down their sleeping bags to them! For the rest of the holiday though we managed to get them into our room and onto our floor.

I make films. I write, direct, light, edit, produce, and sometimes even act in them. I've been doing it for about five years now and have made a few commercial pieces.

I also love writing in general. I write short stories and all sorts of little bits and pieces.

I play guitar and have been in bands for years. I've never got good at playing my guitar, but I have a lot of fun doing it.

I love dancing and going out and socialising and meeting new people and all that stuff.

I love art, and although a lot of it baffles me, it also fascinates me. I'm a clever guy and I love culture and history.

I enjoy movies, books and music.
Music is the most contentious. There's a lot of bad music. I dislike chart pop music, mainstream dance music and most ska.
I love reading. My favourite authors are very contemporary. Chuck Palahniuk, Charles Bukowski, Douglas Coupland, John Fante, Joseph Heller, Andrew Cowan, Hubert Selby Jr.
I love, LOVE films. I live for cinema. The only films I don't like are musicals. I will watch anything and everything else. My top three films of all time though are Casablanca, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and The Warriors.

As a writer, I'm very capable on the written word...as long as it's English. I'm great with spelling and grammar and am always able to help people out with that. I'm also a good filmmaker, and so I always enjoy helping people learn how to appreciate movies more, and even help people to make better videos!
I want to learn more about the world we live in, and the places I want to visit. Everyone is a student of life, and with that in mind, I'm always wanting to hear how other people deal with the problems in their lives. I think we could all do with a little help on figuring out that stuff!
