My profile had finally gotten so out of date that I felt obliged to update it. I have the heart of an engineer, which mean I am perpetually designing and building things. One day in a past lifetime, when I was working as an engineer, I decided I wanted to get out and work in the greater world, doing something to serve others, so now I work in medical diplomacy. The line between my personal and professional life is a bit of a blur, but things that I nominally do more for myself than for work include rock climbing, photography, and general adventuring (although I've also done all of those things for work).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I lived in Berlin (my favorite place to live, and a personal highlight for me) the greater couchsurfing community of Berlin was a second family to me. Through that vibrant community I met many of my favorite people, and I still love the intersection of community and adventure that is couchsurfing.

I saw a bottle roll uphill of its own accord once. That one blew my mind. It's repeatable too, which makes it "science". Take that gravity!

I actually know a thing or two about medicine, and especially improvised medicine and medical care in an austere environment. If you want to talk about medical preparedness for your travels, that's actually something I love to think about.
