About Me

I'm Theresa! Also known as Tess to people with whom I've played soccer or had classes.

22 years old studying Mechanical Engineering and trying to see as much of the world as I can. I really enjoy running to get to know unfamiliar areas, coffee, tea, and anything to do with the outdoors - especially hiking or kayaking.

I eat mostly vegetarian and love to cook. Currently exploring how to make handmade pasta and cook with unfamiliar spices.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people! For the purposes of both travelling and to host other travelers. I live in a town full of music and high energy I would thoroughly enjoy showing around to you. There's SO much to do packed in little Dayton, OH. Similarly, staying with a person who lives in an area I'm visiting sounds a lot better to me than staying by myself in a hotel room. Not only can I ask about your favorite parts of where you live or ask you to join on an adventure, but it serves as yet another opportunity to learn about another person's lifestyle and hear their stories - maybe even over a beer or two.

Music, Movies, and Books

I appreciate most types of music - intense rap isn't really my style but if it's yours I'll jam out with you to whatever you put on. Overall I enjoy alternative music, bands including Walk the Moon and Public the Band. I'll introduce you if you're not familiar. I dance like a parent chaperone at her kid's dance and proud of it. My favorite movie is a tie between Dead Poets' Society and Indiana Jones, but I don't watch a lot. I love reading non-fiction, but enjoy writing more than reading. Specifically journaling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ask me about the "bear attack" in Glacier National Park I survived during my solo trip to the Western US.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm willing to share any knowledge or experiences I've stumbled upon in these short 22 years. How about over a meal? I can teach you my favorite or learn one of yours! Learning other cultures' meals, languages, customs, and overall hearing about the life stories of people I meet feed my desire to keep travelling and keep learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’d enjoy cooking a meal for my host, or even better teaching them! I come from German ancestry so most likely will be along the lines of German comfort food. I’ve had a unique experience of traveling when I was young so I have many stories of many countries I’ve been to. I love teaching and learning card games, even better if over a shared bottle of wine or a few beers from my hometown!

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Puerto Rico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Slovakia, Switzerland, Vatican City State
