PHILOSOPHY

I believe everyone should be able to live as they please, as long as they do not hurt anyone else. I believe all events, good or bad, go into making us who we are ("there are no mistakes, just lessons to be learned"); I believe laughter IS the best medicine; and I believe Miss Piggy should be President of the United States.

PLEASE, if you want to request a couch, PLEASE don't request the day before you need a place (unless it is an emergency and you didn't expect to need a place). If you know in advance you are traveling, please contact me early enough to actually get the message and respond and prepare for you. I have had a couple of requests the day before and I just can't accept when I don't see your request until after you needed the place to stay. Thank you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After college, I spent a year just visiting friends and staying on a different couch every night. More recently, I would visit a new city and chat with other gay guys in that area to find a place to stay, and that has worked out great. And, of course, I've found couches through this site!

BOOKS: The Air Loom Gang, This Side of Paradise and other Fitzgerald books, anything by Truman Capote, anything by Martin Cruz Smith, and a host of other stuff both fiction and non-fiction, especially books about architecture and art.

MUSIC: Alternative, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Romantic, Baroque, Big Band, that cool stuff you hear often in movies from the 1950s with lots of horns, and Disco. Richmond has an awesome local music scene so I love to go watch my favorite local bands, including the Upper East Side Big Band, No BS Brass Band, Those Manic Seas, Avers, Fool's Errand, and Allison Self. As for non-local, I love Le Vent du Nord, of Montreal, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, etc.

MOVIES: I love classic movies! Can watch TCM all the time.
