Eat well. Travel Often.
Adventurer + Bookworm. I quit my corporate job, and now on a quest to quench my wanderlust.
The name is Kristelle, but if you can, please call me Telai like most of my friends. But Kristelle works too!
I love beaches and skyscrapers. I love people and culture. I love food and adventure. I love sunrises and I enjoy an exciting night life at the same time. I love dogs and books. If I could do one thing all my life, it would be to travel the world.
I can be very chill and laid back. I'm not a good conversation starter, but I can talk a mile a minute once I get started. I'm a very open minded person, polite and nice. I know my geography well. I'm a little know-it-all, and I like soaking up information. I drink well, but not as often as I used to. I love music, but I can't sing no matter how hard I try. I can't play a musical instrument to save my life, but I like dancing and swimming. I sketch and design too, so I like artsy fartsy stuff. I also read a lot.
I would be the first one to volunteer on the bungee jump, and probably the first one to sky dive as well. I am deathly afraid of blood, ghost stories and syringes though. I'd rather teach, share and build.
You can go ahead and talk to me about anything at all.
don't stress the could-have's. if it should have, it would have.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am an advocate of sharing, learning, and having fun!
I've done meet ups, surfing, hosting, traveling and everything else under the sun. I have met a lot of my closest friends through the community. Couchsurfing was definitely a game changer to the way I travel and explore the world! It was humbling to realize how many absolutely awesome people are still out there we have yet to meet and become friends with!
- adventure races
- bungee jumping
- language exchange
Music, Movies, and Books
I mostly watch romantic comedies and indie movies. But I actually really watch more TED vids.
I read almost anything, except thrillers and suspense, but special mention to chic lits and business books (oops, there goes my cool factor). To redeem myself though, shoutout for Harry Potter and Pablo Neruda poetry. And as a hopeless romantic, I recently became a cult follower of Lang Leav.
You know we all love 90s music (boy bands, girl bands, belly baring singers) and I am also particularly fond of indie pop/rock music and EDM. Yep. It's official. I am a not-so-closet-hipster.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Defied all the advice of well-meaning friends who were afraid I was going to get raped and killed by strangers I met online, and went to a wild local rock concert not knowing a single soul (and not being a fan of rock) to go to my first ever Couchsurfing event alone! One of the all time best decisions I've made in my life! I've met a few great (and drunk) people that night who've inspired me to discover the amazing CS community and I have never looked back since! ☺️
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe that keeping an open mind and lowering expectations is the key to happiness and contentment. I want to be able to go and see the world, learn and appreciate cultural differences, and hopefully to contribute positive feels to the rest of humanity.
Aside from the cultural aspect, I also want to learn more about languages - particularly Chinese, Korean and Spanish. I speak English fluently, and I am very interested having a travel or language exchange buddy I can practice speaking with!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, since I can't do fire dancing, balance a sharp sword on my face, or any particularly special skill or talent to show off to my potential host, I can share stories and adventures and laughters and travel tips to the Philippines instead! 🇵🇭
Countries I’ve Visited
