About Me

My name is Thi. I am an international student from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I am now living and studying in Bellingham, Washington.
I love being on the move. I love traveling, and if I can't travel far to other states or countries, I will take short trips around town just to have a different experience from daily activities.
Reading is what fuels me and indie songs are my jam. I love fiction about cultures and my most favorite for now is The Book Thief -- Markus Zusak and The Kite Runner -- Khaled Hosseini, but these are only a few of many. I do try to read non-fictions to be informed, and I grow to love them more and more over time, but if I get to choose then I'll go for fictions.
I am really independent and feel comfortable doing most things on my own, and that trait has helped me be more confident in traveling, especially doing solo trips. I am a social introvert. I love hanging out with people and initiate conversations to get to know others. I don't talk a lot, but I always try to make others feel included, and I am a good listener. I love hearing stories about different countries and different cultures, and I love sharing my own experiences too.
Right now, I have three roommates. One from Indonesia, one from Fargo, North Dakota, and one from Pullman, Washington. Thus, I cannot host, and because I don't have a personal vehicle, so it'd be hard for me to take Couchsurfers around. But if you want a trip around town or go on a hike or do activities outside including taking public transportation, I'm down if I don't have school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that traveling doesn't have to be a luxury only for those who are settled. I think it should be a continuous journey throughout one's life, not a destination (definitely not in the case of, "I will travel when I have more money"). I'm on Couchsurfing because I love traveling myself. I love meeting new people, and my experience on Couchsurfing so far has been truly great. Another reason is that I want to inspire my friends from Vietnam and from America to travel with whatever they have in hand -- no need to wait for a full pocket of money to learn and to explore, you know!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to Disney music quite a lot. I also love Vietnamese and American acoustic. I work a part-time job that requires me to listen to upbeat songs so I try not to listen to them when I'm not working -- it's just a lot to take in :)
I don't watch a lot of movies -- not a big fan, indeed. But I'd be down for one -- of any genres -- with you!
I LOVE reading. I mentioned before some of my most favorite. Educated written by Tara Westover is also on my must-read, beside In defense of food by Michael Pollan and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Here's the link to my goodreads account where I write reviews for books I have read and where I find my next favorite ones.
