Bonjour !

Nous sommes un fils (Thibaut) et un père (Hervé) originaire de la Savoie / France.

À partir du 13 mai 2017, nous prévoyions de faire la traverser du Canada de Halifax (NS) à Tofino (BC). Nous espérons effectuer cette traversée de 7 000km en environs 4 mois et demi. Nous allons prendre notre temps, car Thibaut prévoit de faire un reportage photo sur les Canadiens rencontrer tout au long de notre parcours.

Thibaut :
Cela fait maintenant 5 ans que j’ai quitté la Savoie pour aller étudier la photographie au Cégep de Matane. Depuis ce temps j’ai pas mal voyagé et documenté certaines provinces : Côte-Nord et Gaspésie (Québec), Ile du Prince-Édouard, Terre-Neuve & Labrado. Mais je n’ai encore jamais traversé le continent canadien et cela sera mon premier voyage en vélo ! En voyageant on a la chance de rencontrer des gens nouveaux, d’apprendre des choses sur leur histoire et leur coin de pays.
J’ai aussi travaillé dans une brasserie artisanale La Fabrique à Matane pendant les 3 dernières années et j’aime (faire, parler et boire) la bière.

Hervé :
Je suis un grand-père (vivant à Mouxy/France), gérant du magasin «ACK Cycles Bonnafond» et un ancien grand sportif : triathlète, montagnard, skieur et pratiquant les sports d’endurances. J’aime les grands espaces, la nature, le jardinage et partager mes expériences.

Pour ce projet, nous voulons être au plus près de la population de ces provinces grâce au Warm Showers, Couch Surfing et au hasard des rencontres. N’hésitez pas à nous contacter si vous avez un canapé ou un carré de pelouse pour notre tente au cours de notre voyage. Nous sommes sympa, propres, faciles à vivre et si vous aussi un jour vous êtes de passage dans nos alpes on fera le nécessaire pour vous rendre l’appareil !

Thibaut à plusieurs expériences de CS depuis 2012, pour Hervé cela sera ces premier pas dans cette communauté !

Hello,

We are a father (Hervé) and son (Thibaut) from the Alps region in France. On May 13, 2017 we will begin a 7,000km bike trip from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Tofino, BC that we expect to last 4-5 months. Thibaut is a professional photographer, and we will be taking our time so that he can document our time on the road.

About Thibaut:
Since moving to Canada to study photography 5 years ago, I have done several extended trips for documentary purposes, which have taken me to P.E.I., Newfoundland, and throughout Quebec. However, this will be my first time visiting most parts of Canada and my first bike trip on this scale! While travelling I enjoy having the opportunity to meet new people and learn about local history. I also have also worked as a brewer at a microbrewey in Matane for the last 3 years, and I love (making, talking about, and drinking) beer. ☺

About Hervé :
I am a grandfather, manager of a small bike shop and former athlete (triathalon, mountain climbing, skiing, and endurance sports). I love open spaces, being in nature, gardening, and sharing my knowledge and experience with others.

As we plan ahead, we are looking to Warm Showers and Couchsurfers in the hopes of being able to meet and loge with like-minded Canadian travellers and cyclists en route. If you happen to have a couch, spare room, or a spot in your backyard where we could pitch our tent along the way, please don’t hesitate to contact Thibaut. We are friendly, tidy, easy to get along with, and if you happen to pass through France one day we would be happy to repay the favour!

We are very much looking forward to being a part of the Warm Showers community. It will be a great pleasure for us to share our journey and forge new friendships with our fellow cyclists in Canada.

Thibaut is an experienced couchsurfer who has already made incredible friends through this community. This will be the first time Hervé has had the pleasure, although he has put up many travelling athletes and friends of his children at his home in France.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- J'ai voyager pendant environ 1 mois et demi à Terre-neuve et Labrador tout seul dans mon auto durant la saison de Ice Berg.
