I am a 24 years old guy from Québec. I lived in and around Montréal all my life until I left on my own to Russia to study russian in Moscow State University for a year. This decision was the best I have ever made, since I not only discovered a fascinating country, I also made friends from all over the world, from Russia of course but also from the United-States, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Sweden, Finland (in Helsinki alone I know nine people) and others. During my time there I took the opportunity to travel, I went to 14 different countries in Europe and I’ve also done the transsiberian, the longest train ride in the world, from Moscow to Vladivostok. What this whole experience has done for me, is giving me a thirst for travelling, seeing new places and learning new things. I will never forget how I felt when I first arrived in Moscow, when the guy who took me at the airport asked for my passport in a very russian way by yelling at me “passport davai passport!” or the next day when I had to wait in line all day to pay for my room. During my first days there I was a bit taken aback, but I also felt excitement from it and it didn’t took long for me to get accustomed to my new environment. Because of that, I grew more and more confident and that was reflecting on my character. That is why I’ve decided to go travel again to make new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Depending on how I feel, my choice of music goes from Johnny Cash to Billy Talent or from The Offspring to Bob Marley. I listen to music in french (Les Colocs, Les Cowboys Fringants, Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour, among others) and in russian (Виктор Цой и Группа Кино, Ленинград, Noize MC, Red Army Choir). Also sometimes I listen to classical music or to stuff like Hedningarna and Wardruna or even irish traditionnal music or any kind of traditionnal music for that matter. What I like the most would be classic rock like The Beatles, Scorpions, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Heart, etc. But my two best are definitely Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

Some movies that I like are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Kill Bill, Miracle, Gladiator, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, The Wolf of Wall Street, Lawrence of Arabia, Into the Wild, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I watch a lot of comedies, my favorite ones are Charlie Chaplin - The Great Dictator, The Party, Happy Gilmore, Slap Shot, EuroTrip, Swingers, Le dîner de cons and Les visiteurs. I also like musicals like On the Town, Singing in the Rain, Moulin Rouge, Les Misérables. I'm currently following three series, Game of Thrones, House of Cards and Vikings.

I've liked reading Le comte de Monte Cristo, Into the Wild and all The Witcher series or also any book that had to do with historical figures or history in general.

Good stories, like when I was walking in the streets of Vladivostok at 4 AM without shoes because I had lost them in the transsiberian train or when I almost died three times in the same day at a glacier in Montana.
