ABOUT ME

I'm a 22 year old Dutch boy living in Amsterdam with my boyfriend and my cat. After a few years of Philosophy and Political Theory I've decided to stop trying to save the world (it doesn't want to be saved!) and start making theatre. Am now doing the Dramaturgy master in Amsterdam.

Of course I haven't lost my fascination for philosophy and politics. Trying to answer philosophical questions about identity and justice will always be my motivation in life.

PHILOSOPHY

Why, just because I studied Philosophy I should have a personal philosophy? ;)

I think it's very important to be aware of things and of choices you are making, and also to always try to connect to those around you.

I also think we should help each other out in life! Everyone has a way or a special talent or possibility in which he or she can help others, I think that makes us happier and better persons. Call me naive or idealistic, but who could possibly disagree?

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2007 I had a nice year of couchsurfing. After that I have unfortunately lived in places where I couldn't host, and haven't called upon other couches because of a great Volkswagen camper van :D.
My boyfriend isn't as much of a surfer dude as I am, so no more surfing my couch I'm afraid.
This year I'm doing some travelling without other friends, so I thought I'd update my profile and see what could happen!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing experiences in foreign countries to date have all been with my friend Chris, who's been a member for some time now. In Budapest and Berlin her couchsurfing buddies shared their couch with us. In Budapest I met some other surfers at a meeting in a vegan restaurant, where I met a lot of very different, very interesting people. CS has a great community!

Apart from that I hosted two nice Spanish students on my couch.

I also have some unofficial couchsurfing experience, staying with friends or friends-of-friends in Madrid, Paris, New York and Havana. And when friends in Amsterdam have visitors from other countries, I always like to meet up with them and give them tours around the historic center of Amsterdam or show them cool markets and restaurants.

I think the best place to stay anywhere is with locals. I have so much more great memories of meeting people than of hotels or apartments!

Interesses

Obviously I love theatre and other art forms, am interested in politics (but I'm also very tired of politics most of the time...), and go out a lot and party.

My main interest is people, though. I love my friends and I always love meeting interesting new people.

And, needless to say; I also like to travel.

I don't consider myself an expert in anything because I'm never through asking questions. Ok, so maybe I'm an expert in asking the right questions and with that making other people aware of things they already know! I also like to show others where to look, think outside of the box and discover new things together.
