About Me

I am a dreamer, searching for transformative experiences that lead me to some sort of next level. Nothing major, Siddhartha-type stuff, just small moments that stop the mind, and open the heart.
I am searching for alternatives to the hyper-consumptive "hedonistic treadmill" we have been inculturated with. So things like Tiny Houses, local foods, DIY projects, community organizing, meditation, lean alternatives, art, frugality, vegetarianism, dancing, getting lost in nature, all inspire me.

I have just graduated from university, and am now learning how integrate the large vocabulary and "critical thinking" mindset into a greater reality that doesn't care if it is critiqued.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have lived in my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico all my life, and I am now on a "dérive" through the country to experience new people, places, and ideas.

I have a Permaculture Design Course lined up in mid July, but from the end of May until then, I have some time to explore. I am very interested in alternative communities, and traveling in a non-traditional (i.e. staying in nice hotels) way.

If you wish to host me for a night or two during this journey, I will be honored, and repay with good conversation, listening, maybe even a poem! : )

Music, Movies, and Books

"A Sand County Almanac", "One Straw Revolution", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "A People's Ecology", Tom Robbins, Rudolf Steiner, Carl Jung, Rumi, Streetlight Manifesto, Reggae, Samba, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Captain Fantastic, documentaries, a bunch of other stuff, just ask me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

5 month trail crew in Colorado, basically got paid to camp and hike, and swing a pick.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a little Spanish. I would say I am book smart and enjoy deep conversation. I am always looking to hone my listening skills. I've done Hatha Yoga off and on since I was 18, so I know a Sun Salutation or two. I have a meditation practice, but it is a fledgling , so always looking to learn more.

I would consider myself a "barefoot botanist", in that, I have no institutional training, but have been into herbalism and gardening for about 5 years. I am pretty good a plant identification and ecological knowledge, so lets go on a nature hike together.

I love sharing laughter, spontaneity, and whimsy with those who can indulge.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook (mainly vegetarian) meals really well, and would be happy to make a dinner in exchange for hospitality. I can spin a good yarn or tell some jokes, or be silent, depending on the situation.
I am willing to weed some garden beds or feed animals, if you have those things.
