About Me

I'm a classical singer from the US who's lived in Germany since 2011. I love the fact that my career has brought me across an ocean (and the irony that my great-grandparents immigrated to the US so that 100 years later I could go right back)! I'm not a very experienced couchsurfer (yet), but while I was living in Hamburg I met some wonderful people through Couchsurfing meet-ups. I'm looking forward to becoming more active and well-traveled with this great community!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people from all over the world and share our experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite book - The Count of Monte Cristo. It gets better each time I read it (though these days it's being challenged for the top spot by The Three Musketeers). I also love a good detective novel (The Millennium Trilogy); and just read my first Haruki Murakami (Dance, Dance, Dance), which will definitely not be my last.

Favorite movie - changes frequently, though I've seen Robin Hood: Men in Tights more times than I can remember, and I'm a big fan of Wes Anderson's latest works.

Favorite shows - I never thought I'd wish I lived in the early 20th century... then I watched Downton Abbey. Sports Night is where I discovered Aaron Sorkin's brilliance, though it took me way too long to watch The West Wing. And, let's be honest, the new Battlestar Galactica is great. That show won Emmys for a reason.

Favorite music - entirely depends on my mood. I sing for a living, so it's hard to limit myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to Craiova, Romania with a German opera company to sing an opera written by an American composer, based on a book by a German author. Spent the first night drinking Palinka and dancing traditional folk dances with the birthday party we shared a restaurant with, spent the second night on stage, and got home exactly 60 hours after I'd left. And that's not even the half of it...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll help you with your German or English if you help me with your native language! I also know my way around a kitchen, and love spending an evening cooking for (or with!) new friends while sharing a good bottle of wine and good stories.
