Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Helping on a Tiny House on Wheels project in Vermont, driving back to Colorado by way of Atlanta before Christmas
ABOUT ME
Organic peach grower. I have been a host for Wwoofers and other travelers, and visitors from around the world. I've also been fortunate to visit farms on four different continents.
PHILOSOPHY
Wanting more is hard wired into all of us living beings. Practicing compassion, attention and gratitude are the best ways to make the most of a brief opportunity as a conscious being
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to slip into wild lands disrupting nature as little as possible. Foreign urban environments are equally intriguing. I aim to assimilate the local culture, to walk in the local moccasins.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hitch hiking was a healing art after two years in the Army, restoring faith and trust in human nature. I formed deep friendships before exchanging names. Something right and wrong with that. I still treasure meeting people from outside my familiar circle that are compassionate, attentive and curious about others. Sharing shelter presents an alternative mode of sharing for mutual benefit. Being a wwoof host has provided my most couch surfish experience.
Interests
Hiking, skiing, occasionally golf. I appreciate a wide range of music. I enjoy conversations about nature -especially as shaped by evolution by natural selection- and ways to make the most of our brief moment in the light of consciousness.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: The Moral Animal, How to Want What You Have, Botany of Desire, Patrick O'Brian, Gravity's Rainbow, Hank the Cowdog, Calvin & Hobbes ....Chaos and complexity theory
Music: Pepe Romero, Dexter Payne, Two Tons of Steele, Dylan, Jimmy Rodgers, Brazilian, Nuevo Canción traditional Japanese, Witold Lutoslowski and many other genres
Movies: popular movies and tv are over stimulating for me. Violence and special effects distract from compelling stories. My Dinner with Andre, 12 Angry Men and Amarcord are favorites. More recently Flirting with Disaster, and the Big Lebowski.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw the deep character and beauty of an old, old, orchard, scarred and weathered by years of exposure to the elements, and realized the color of the turning leaves, the twists of the limbs, the texture of bark -all of it an expression of the time and place of existence, and that I had been witness to the whole lifespan, and had done much, through care, neglect, repair, accident and perseverance to shape the present moment. Amazement!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am eager to share what I've learned about having an economic relationship with nature. Organic farming that depends on a complex micro biome that must be nurtured as it provides the energy and nutrients that feed and shelter more than the humans who also benefit.
