ABOUT ME

Ok, here goes. I would say that I'm a pretty easy person to get along with. I love discovering new people, having new experiences... Basically, leaving the routine of life that's so easy too fall into. I'm a huge fan of the outdoors and seeing beautiful landscapes might be my favorite thing to do. A close second, though, would have to be getting nice and cozy and reading a book. Everywhere I go I seem to meet amazing people at least one of which I end up staying in contact with after I leave, which means that I'm starting to know people a little all over and that's just the way it should be.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't worry, be happy. Seriously though. Life is way to short to do anything else. Trying to go through life in as straight of a line as possible is not the answer. Let yourself make wrong turns! You might end up unexpected places that you would've missed otherwise.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As of right now, I'm just surfing because I don't really have a place where I can host people, but who knows where I'll be after I graduate.

Started surfing and loving it!

-I'm a huge sports fan. Yankees, NY Rangers, NY Giants, and IND Colts (for some reason) for those who are interested, (Not huge into basketball though, strangely enough) but my main love is soccer (with tennis not far behind).
-I absolutely love music, both listening and playing. I'm always trying to discover new bands or artists (rock and folk but also piano music and pretty much anything else). Playing piano is one of my passions and I do it whenever possible.
-I love languages and have dappled in a number of them. Every time I run into one, I feel like I have to learn it and my to-do list gets longer...
-Books. One of the greatest inventions of mankind.
-Traveling (no surprise there I guess)
-Learning. About people, cultures, science, fun facts... Literally anything.
-(apparently) Avoiding having taken pictures taken of me. (These are from a year ago though I probably look about the same. Sorry about that)

Movies: Christopher Nolan. Tarantino. Classics like The Godfather and Casablanca. Bad movies that are just fun to watch.

Books: Currently obsessed with Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller chronicles (can't wait for the 3rd to come out!). Other fantasy novels (Shannara anyone?). Agatha Christie and the like (just discovered Louise Penney. If you like murder mysteries where character development is key you should check it out!). Currently going through a lot of russian classics which are pretty awesome too.

Music: Pretty much everything. Dire Straights, Fleetwood Mac, Beatles (duh), Vampire Weekend, Two Door Cinema Club, Paul Simon (and Garfunkel too), Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Winston, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea... (the list goes on)

Stood on top of the ancient walls of Istanbul (not Constantinople) looking down on the sprawling city; climbed on top of a (really) really high arch in Arches National Park (knees buckling and all); watched literally dozens of shooting stars all night from the roof of a little house in Corsica; spent a week of the 2003 summer heatwave practically living in a Swiss, blissfully fresh, mountain torrent; walked in awe through the arabesque covered walls of La Alhambra; reveled in the beauty of sunsets and sunrises in all parts of the world from the edge of the Grand Canyon to top of the Mont Saint Michelle to the foggy peak of Mt Ainslie in Canberra; and most importantly met wonderful people and friends everywhere and in the most unlikely of places.
