Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've lived on my own since I was 17. Couch surfed for the better part of 4 years until I moved into my own apartment, in which I do not occupy because I'm working in another province... once again... couch surfing.

I know what its like and am willing to give up my unused couch for those who need it! Hopefully finding some gracious people to return the favour!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started a company that sold backpacks on a buy-one-give-one basis (www.thebackpackco.com). We sold out of our product within 3 months of having it online, then went to Bolivia with a NPO called Hands Across the Nations (HATN.org) where we gave 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to 100 children at a school that they were building. This was the poorest area in the poorest country in South America. It was incredible. I spent some time there teaching the kids English and meeting the amazing people there. It was probably one of the best experiences of my life. After I came back, we tried to keep our company grass roots (we had interested investors) but didn't have enough money, so I decided it was a success in-and-of-itself and put it on hiatus while I continued on with my post-secondary education.

I was in a band that did quite a bit of touring, we got offered to sign to a record label but turned it down, we then broke up, and years later we are all still great friends. (That barely happens!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got my degree in Theology, so I can discuss/explain philosophical/theological matters if you'd like! (although some people find this boring, I find it elating)

I also play some guitar, piano, and banjo... however I am not a master shredder, I can teach you everything I know
