Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel to countries I'm not only interested in the sights and nature but also in the people who live there, in their beliefs, views of the world and in what they think about their home country. Staying with the locals is way more authentic than staying at a hotel that looks more or less like any other hotel in the world. Also, it's unlikely you meet some locals there.
So far, I always had interesting conversations as well as new impressions when talking to other couchsurfers while having a beer in Helsinki or hanging out by a pool in Miami or joining a street parade in San Francisco ...

Interests

Reading and writing are my passion as well as my job. Traveling is only a passion so far but I'm working on combining that with my job.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: classics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s (mostly classic rock) and electronic/dance, also artists like Sia, Florence + The Machine, Lady Gaga ...

Movies: horror movies, biopics, comedies, movies that I used to watch as a child like Aristocats, Peter Pan and The Rescuers. For nostalgia's sake. ;)

Books: I can't stop on that one once you get me started. I love literature and also studied it. To keep it very short: German classics (Thomas Mann, E.T.A Hoffmann, Hermann Hesse, ...) and American classics (Jack Kerouac, Nathaniel Hawthorne, E. A. Poe, ...) and - I have to admit it - my all time favorite: Stephen King!
