About Me

Hey there!
I'm Thorsten and 24 years old.

After by Bachelor in Computer Science and Media I travelled through New Zealand and South East Asia for a while in 2016 and 2017. Until March 2019, I worked fulltime as a software developer in Karlsruhe, Germany before deciding to go on a longer journey again - sitting in front of a computer all the time does get boring after some time! So I cycled all the way from the Swedish South tip to Bergen, 2200km along the Kattegatt.

Apart from seeing awesome places meeting new people from around the world is one of the main reasons why I love travelling so much. While usually being more of a quiet person, I can also enjoy having deep conversations.

What else is there to know about me - I don't need a lot of comfort, I'm kind of active in the environmental scene and I'm vegetarian since more than 10 years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the concept of people sharing their homes with others. I hope I can connect to locals and give the experience back to others when I'm back home again.

Interests

I am into many kinds of sports like tennis, table tennis, Badminton, cycling and running. I'm outdoors as often as possible and like trying out new things.
I like Geocaching because you get to beautiful places you'd never found without it.
I'm a passionate software developer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read Fantasy books and Thrillers. Harry Potter and Narnia are still my favourite sequels.

I'm not into TV series but watch the one or the other movie.

My music library is very diverse, but I mainly listen to rock, punk and folk music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycled from Dunedin to Christchurch with a $30 second-(or maybe fifth-)hand bike where the chain broke somewhere in the middle of nowhere but in the end I still made it!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, New Zealand
