Born in Thailand , raised in Oakland , and ethnic Burmese . I’ve travelled on my own since I was 17, usually in Southeast Asia , volunteering to teach in Burmese migrant communities . Since then , I have had the opportunity to travel all over Asia and Mexico . It’s time for me to start exploring my back yard !

While on my travels I’ve always heard people have good things to say about the site and the experiences they’ve had. Traveling Asia and Mexico is quite budget friendly but with the pandemic making international travel harder , I started exploring my own backyard . However, accommodations are far more expensive in the states ! I love talking to new people and I figured this was an awesome way to have access to cheaper accommodations but also continue the “hostel experience “ I’d grown to love in Southeast Asia.
