Overview
About Me
RIGHT NOW: I’m working towards getting out of my comfort zone and really living an immersive life in France. J’essaie d’apprendre le Français, c’est difficile!
I AM: A graphic designer from Hong Kong via the UK, and outside of my design career I’m at the (very) early stages of launching a non-profit for plastic recycling programmes for impoverished areas. One of them annoyingly *woke* kids who ‘has great passion in social empowerment and environmental issues’ and think being cynical is cool, all the while sipping on a soy latte out of a takeaway cup.
I THINK: I don’t have much faith in the collective humanity, but people and their cultures still very much fascinate me. I want to know what brought this person to where they are and what made that person the way they are— what they have and have not seen, and what society and culture have shaped them. Educate me!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Have many precious memories being hosted by couchsurfers while backpacking solo, and a grand time hanging out with travellers when I was staying put. Now I mainly go to meet-ups in my new city.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Helped build a school in the very impoverished rural villages outside Phnom Penh with zero machinery and total manual labour. The amazing thing wasn’t me building anything— I was shit at it, couldn’t lay bricks in a straight line and really slowed down them local workers who looked down on my line of bricks with amusement— it was the learning and living with people who we ‘in the west’ thought need our grace and aid. They do need empowerment and access, but they absolutely do not need another self-serving volunteer taking photos of their cute children and spreading awareness of their ‘pitiful’ living situations.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don’t have many party tricks, but I can digitally design a hell lot, cook a grand dirty vegan meal and I’m learning my fourth language!
