About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stop losing socks.

ABOUT ME

I'm born and raised in Canada.

I love making things and collecting skills. I make props for movies and TV. When I was a kid, I wanted to be Q from James Bond, I guess I'm pretty close to living the dream!

I am a climber by night and most of trips will involve some kind of climbing.

On the off chance that I come off as creepy - one of my favourite things to do is look through people's dwellings and things. That's part of the appeal of couchsurfing - you get to see spaces and how they reflect their owners.

PHILOSOPHY

Calluses are nature's gloves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I'm traveling so at the very least, I hope I'm a mildly interesting guest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a wonderful host in Sweden! I'm hoping to meet more people like her. Elin took me climbing!

The most amazing couple in Paris who took me into the catacombs, after hours. This was 4 or 5 years ago now and we are still friends. We also went climbing in Fontainebleau.

2 people who responded to my last-minute calls of desperation in Brussels and in Amsterdam.

A man who let me into his cage with his dog.

Interests

Blacksmithing, Metalworking, Rock climbing, sanding, polishing, the metric system, swords, knives, other sharp objects.

Music, Movies, and Books

Off the top:

Willy Wonka, Primer, Lord of the Rings

I enjoy almost all kinds of music. Or, at the very least, I'll tolerate it all. I played piano for 10 years, because my parents are Asian and that's just what happens.

Books:

Surely You're Joking Mr Feynman, The Last Question (available here: http://www.multivax.com/last_question.html), Hyperbole and a Half, non-fiction books on metalworking

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited the World Trade Centre before September 11th, 2001. Holding a piece of steel from the building.

Going into the Catacombs of Paris in the not-so-publically-accessible way.

Dressed up for a formal party in an abandoned malt factory.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn how things work, how to make things, how to do things. "How?" Is my question of choice. I would be a terrible philosopher.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Really bad puns.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Finland
